Zhiyun, in my opinion, has been the most innovative and creative gimbal manufacturer in the market. They were the first to introduce the underslung handle with the original Weebill Lab. They were also the first to come up with axis locks and now, they have introduced a wrist rest for easier underslung usage, which is a modification from the original Weebill 3. Although June sometimes has issues with fine-tuning their creations, they have made significant improvements with the detachable features of the Weebill 3S.
Auto Locks
One of the standout features of the DJI RS3 gimbal is its auto locks. As soon as you turn the power on, the gimbal automatically unlocks itself, making it convenient to attach and detach the camera. However, the Weebill 3S still has manually locked and unlocked axis locks, which can be a slight inconvenience.
This is something that Zhiyun should consider improving in future models.
Performance
In terms of performance, the Weebill 3S is a reliable gimbal. I have used it on various shoots, including filming a fellow YouTuber’s video and a wedding, and it worked perfectly fine.
The size and weight of the gimbal are slightly heavier than the RS3, but it feels solid and well-made. Zhiyun has made significant improvements with the durability and quality of the locks, addressing previous issues with their older models.
Layout and Controls

Additionally, the quick vertical mode switching, while a unique feature, is not something that I find useful.
Most videos shot on a gimbal for platforms like Instagram and TikTok are edited vertically rather than shot in vertical mode. Furthermore, shooting in 16×9 allows for more versatility in later editing.
Pricing
The Weebill 3S competes directly with the DJI RS3 gimbal. However, I don’t believe it competes with the RS3 Pro, as the latter is more suited for professional filmmakers.
The base model of the Weebill 3S is cheaper than the RS3 Mini but slightly more expensive than the RS3. For $319, you get the gimbal and tripod, which is similar to what you get with the RS3.
However, there is an additional attachment for $110 that adds more functionality to the Weebill 3S. Despite the price difference, the Weebill 3S has a smaller form factor and feels about the same weight as the RS3.
In conclusion, while the Weebill 3S may not have all the professional features of the DJI RS3, it is a reliable and innovative gimbal that offers great performance for filmmakers.
