Question: Why do people strive for perfection in an imperfect world?
Solution: Embracing imperfection can actually lead to greater happiness and success in life.
Intro: In a society that often glorifies flawlessness and places immense pressure on individuals to be perfect, it’s important to question why we strive for perfection in the first place. From the pursuit of a flawless appearance to the constant quest for achievements without any room for error, our obsession with perfection can inadvertently create stress, anxiety, and dissatisfaction. However, what if we were to shift our perspective and start embracing imperfections? Contrary to popular belief, imperfection can actually serve as a powerful catalyst for growth, learning, and self-acceptance. In this blog, we will explore why imperfection matters and how it can lead us to a more fulfilling and authentic life.
Why IMPERFECTION Matters
Morning in Italy
Morning all and welcome to the second of these Italy vlogs. I’m here in Italy with Andrew Ditton, who I did a trip earlier in the year with. He is reviewing an Atrisco camper van, and I’m photographing it. So far, everything is going fairly well. We’re through about half of the shot list, but there’s a problem. In a couple of hours, heavy storms are forecasted, and we are planning to go through a national park on the way to Pisa. While I love atmospheric images and storms, it may not be what commercial travel clients want. We’re crossing our fingers and hoping for decent weather as we head into town for some coffee and photos before the storms arrive.
A Stormy Surprise
Turns out, the storm wasn’t as bad as expected. It’s just raining a little, so it’s not a big deal. We’re climbing a windy road out of the town of Levanto towards Pisa, through a national park. We made a stop to capture a shot of the winding road, and Andrew has been maneuvering the camper van for the perfect shot. Thankfully, I’m not the one driving, as I’m enjoying the journey and capturing moments along the way. We’re making good progress on the shot list, and I’ll also get some shots inside the van later. Exploring and finding spots to photograph is a process of trial and error, but it’s exciting to see what surprises each location has in store.
Arriving in Pisa
We’ve finally arrived in Pisa, and I couldn’t be happier. I even have my vino with me. The camper van has been comfortable throughout the journey, with its armrest and cup holders that I’ve been using to hold lenses. When we spot a good location, we pull over, and I quickly swap lenses to capture the shot. It’s been a smooth process, and I even have my filters handy in the glove box. The van has plenty of USB ports and a sat-nav to guide us. We’ve explored Pisa using a paper map, and tomorrow morning, we’ll be capturing some photos of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Inside the Camper Van
Let’s take a look inside the camper van. In the back, there’s a double bed where Andrew sleeps. There’s also a bathroom with a shower area. I have a cupboard for my clothes and equipment. The front seats swivel, providing additional seating options, and the driver’s seat also swivels, creating a nice dining area. As for where I’m sleeping, Andrew has kindly provided me with a tent. In our previous trips, I slept in a tent, but this time, I have a surprise. Take a look at this…
