What’s in my CAMERA BAG in 2018? What’s in my CAMERA BAG in 2018
Just quickly looked at what I what I was recording then and now actually unnoticed that you can’t really see my face because of the shadow from my ha. I’m not doing it again and welcome to a place called still Lewin still Owen damn something like that it’s another Welsh Name that I have no idea how to pronounce.
I am here for one main reason really and that’s to get a couple of drone shots of this sweeping road that sits just down here. As you can probably tell though the light isn’t good yet so until the light gets good I thought I’d Do a quick video about what’s in my bag. I’ve put off doing this video for months and months and months now primarily because well I talk about gear in most of my videos and so if you’ve watched more than a handful of my videos you’ll probably know 90% of what sits in this Bag all the time but that said if you’re watching this and then maybe you’ve proved me wrong in it it was worth doing so I mean I’ve already decided it’s worth doing it clearly let’s crack on.
The Camera
The first thing I should mention about what’s in my bag is well what I’m Filming this on which as many long-term viewers will know is the Panasonic g80 which I’ve had for about 15 months I think something like that still absolutely love it I know exactly how it works I’m exactly how to get the best from it I think and and therefore it Works is a brilliant primary video camera but also a really good secondary stills camera on top of that is the rode videomic pro I switched to that maybe nine months ago from the videomic go and there was definitely a step up in quality I think I mean I’m no I’m no Audio nerd but I think I could notice a difference in quality quite right – given that has to have a battery go in it and that’s caught me out a couple of times either because I’ve not turned it on or the batteries completely cut off and halfway through recording clip like this so Please check that yeah we got a green light so you should be able to hear me what is annoying though on that mic is that there is no warning if the battery is going to go like if it gets to under ten percent which I think there should Be because I could be talking now and then all of a sudden you could just completely and that combination is sat on a tripod which is made by Promaster a company called Promaster and it’s an ex an XC 5 to 5 with a random head on it because I Broke the head so it’s got a valve in a head on it I don’t know any specs as you know I despise tripods are the main camera I’ll get the obvious stuff out the way first is the Panasonic g9 with a twig in it and currently on that is the 12 to 35 2.8 mark – I love this camera now I’ve had it since the start of the year so 6 months and I’ve just about got to the point where I know exactly where all the buttons are and I can change things immediately without under dig into menus and get all confused about where stuff Sits so I love getting to that point with a camera because it means you miss less shots if you know where everything is and how to change settings and stuff and yeah I don’t typically like changing cameras all that much because it’s a bit Of a faff of a process to go through so it’s nice to get to that point so yeah as I said currently is the 12 to 35 2.8 I love this lens it’s um I guess 12 35 in full frame is 24 70 which is like they’re photographers workhorse vocal Range usually anyway not for all photographers but largely and so it’s not a particularly exciting focal range it’s not the fastest lens in the world either 2.8 but if you take into account the depth of field differences with Micro Four Thirds and full frame then for a lot of you you probably wouldn’t Enjoy this too much because you can’t get super shallow depth of field but for me and my work is perfect and look at the size of it I’ve just hiked up here which took me best part of an hour and a half I’d say and it was quite hot when I Was doing it and I didn’t mind quite so much because that is my main lens people always ask me what these these tabs are I can show you very quickly I say very quickly I don’t know where what am i doing – is going to be in this bag oh Yes it’s at the top so this is my peak design strap it’s nice and red very pretty and these basically just slot in like so and then you can have touched on on the other side as well and it just means you’ve got a really quick release strap which I really like It’s quite a clever clean design so I’ve got these on on both the G 9 and the G 80 which just means that I can have a strap on you become a very quick Klee if I ever need to this strap I’ll highly recommend. I’ve had this probably An hour best part two years now it still looks pretty much brand new it’s made from as far as I can tell pretty much the same stuff that they make seat belts out off for cars and it’s got this rubber thing for the shoulder pad and Yeah works pretty well I don’t use it all that much nowadays primarily because as you can tell on the bottom of the g9 there’s a plate that looks like a tripod plate but it’s not tripod plate it is the capture plate so my shoulder strap Very easy to do this but just slots in like that so it sits on my shoulder and then it’s ready to go at a moment’s notice and I find that it’s much more comfortable having a camera on the strap like that then it is round my neck if I’m using a backpack if I’m not got my backpack with me then obviously that wouldn’t work but when I’ve got my backpack with me which is 95% at the time I’m taking photos that has worked really well I’ve only had it a couple of weeks but I think it’s very well made And I’ve been very impressed with it the mark 3 version I’ve got the 3 I don’t know quite expensive for what it is when you look at it it was like 70 quid but it’s holding a camera ultimately on your shoulder so you want it to be good Quality ok on the side of the bag oh actually I should probably talk about the bag a bit if you’ve seen lots of my videos you’ll know that this is the peak design peak design 30 liter everyday backpack I look like a peak design convoy at the moment but I promise those Three things or this the capture and the strap or the only peak design things I have and probably will have this is the everyday backpack I’ve had this about 18 months on the whole I really like it I probably give it a seven and a half out Of ten it’s really well built it copes with all weathers all conditions it still looks fairly no apart from being a bit muddy and I don’t know yeah just four marks for quality the only thing I’d really don’t like about it is these side opening pockets which I Really can’t get to grips with I mean stuff typically falls…
