Additionally, I will be discussing the Comica VM30 Wireless Shotgun Mic that I am currently using to record this video. So, let’s jump right into it!

As you can see, the Comica VM30 Wireless Shotgun Mic is hanging out all by itself, without any wires attached. That’s because the mic itself acts as a transmitter, giving you the option to use it wired directly onto your camera, or completely wireless with the receiver attached to your camera or audio recorder. In my opinion, this versatility is amazing, and I highly recommend it. The sound quality is fantastic, although if my audio sounds bad, it’s probably because of my own mistakes in setting the audio levels. Triggering the Panasonic S5IIX Fanboys
A few days ago, I made a video discussing the Panasonic S5 Mark II X, and it seems that it triggered a lot of Panasonic fanboys. However, the video received decent views, and so far, I have made about twenty dollars in ad revenue. Not bad, right?
The interesting thing is that I didn’t plan on making a video about the Panasonic S5 Mark II X. I had initially set up my gear to film a completely different video. However, I received a text message from my wife, needing my help with our son due to an appointment she had. With all the equipment already set up, I thought I might as well make a video. The first thing that came to mind was the Panasonic S5 Mark II X, considering I am a Sony fanboy douchebag.
I had previously reviewed the Sony ZV-1 and received numerous comments from Panasonic fanboys suggesting that I should have gotten the Panasonic S5 Mark II X instead. They claimed that the ZV-1 was trash and praised the Panasonic camera as the best on the planet, even better than the Sony FX3 and A7S III. This triggered me to the point where I decided to address it on my channel.
My Opinion on the Panasonic S5 Mark II X
Let me be clear: I have no problems with the Panasonic S5 Mark II X. In fact, I have mentioned in previous videos that it is a fantastic camera. If a new videographer approached me and expressed interest in purchasing it, I would definitely recommend it. It has phase detect autofocus and offers a wide range of codecs and features. However, in my opinion, the Sony FX3 is superior in most aspects, excluding specific use cases.
For content creators who primarily film TikToks and vertical videos for YouTube, the Panasonic S5 Mark II X might be a better fit due to its different framing options. However, if you’re looking for reliable autofocus, exceptional low light performance, and the ability to shoot slow motion and cinematic b-rolls, the Sony FX3 is the way to go.
Some argue that the Panasonic S5 Mark II X has sharper image quality due to its 6K capabilities, but image quality is not solely determined by sharpness. There’s a significant difference between the look of a movie like Batman, which is shot with high-end cameras without extreme sharpness, and a reality TV show. Hollywood professionals and documentary filmmakers understand this distinction, and it goes beyond mere technical specifications.
While researching the Panasonic S5 Mark II X, I discovered that it has an issue with aliasing or Moray, which results in colored waves and bands when filming textures. This is due to the lack of an anti-aliasing filter. Personally, this is a dealbreaker for me, and I haven’t experienced this issue with my Sony FX3. It’s possible that the FX3’s 12-megapixel sensor and straight 4K readout help to minimize this problem.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the recent backlash from Panasonic S5 Mark II X fanboys actually brought in some ad revenue for me. Although I appreciate the Panasonic camera’s capabilities, I firmly believe that the Sony FX3 offers superior performance in most aspects. Image quality is not solely determined by sharpness, and there are other factors to consider when choosing a camera.
