Why Micro Four Thirds?

Micro four thirds cameras have been gaining popularity due to their compact size and versatility. The bodies and lenses are much smaller compared to full-frame equivalents, making them a great choice for travel and everyday use.

The Lumix Leica 10-25mm f/1.7 Lens

The lens that we will be discussing today is the Lumix Leica 10-25mm f/1.7. This lens has generated a lot of excitement since its launch, and I have been eagerly waiting to test it. But why is this lens so interesting to me?

Replacing Multiple Lenses

There are four lenses in my kit that could potentially be replaced by the 10-25mm lens. Firstly, the Lumix 8-18mm lens, which is versatile but lacks a constant aperture of f/1.7. The 10-25mm lens not only covers a wider focal range but also maintains a constant f/1.7 aperture throughout.

Next, my 15mm f/1.7 lens, which is a great lens but may not be necessary if the 10-25mm lens performs well at 15mm. The same goes for my 25mm f/1.4 lens. Lastly, my 12-35mm f/2.8 lens, which I use frequently. However, upon review, I realized that most of my shots fall within the 12-25mm range, making the 10-25mm lens a viable replacement for it as well.

Reducing Bag Weight

One of the main advantages of the 10-25mm lens is its potential to reduce the weight of my camera bag. By replacing multiple lenses with this one lens, I can lighten my load and improve portability without compromising on image quality.

Preliminary Findings

Keep in mind that I am testing a pre-production model, so I cannot draw strong conclusions about image quality. However, based on my initial observations, I am quite impressed with the 10-25mm lens. It meets my expectations in terms of image quality, and the pullback focus ring adds a unique touch that any photographer will appreciate.

I have taken some test shots with the 10-25mm lens on the Lumix G9 at 10mm and f/1.7. The depth of field is noticeably shallower compared to my other lenses, particularly my 8-18mm lens. The focal length is perfect for my needs, but I may need to adjust my vlogging setup due to the lens’s weight.

Conclusion
