What is up people, Dunna here and today we’re gonna be taking a look at the Tamron 28-75 F 2.8 lens for Sony full-frame cameras. But there’s a twist in the plot line – we’re gonna be taking a look at the performance of this lens specifically on the Sony a6000, so we can see how it performs on APS-C sized sensors. This is my second time trying full-frame lenses on crop bodies, and the results are actually really interesting.

Focal Range for Full-Frame and Crop Shooters

When it comes to the focal length, the Tamron 28-75 is equivalent to about 42mm to 112.5mm on a Sony a6000. It goes from being an all-around wide to mid-range lens on full-frame cameras to a mid to telephoto zoom on a crop camera. While it might be great for street shooting and portraits, it may be too tight for traditional landscape shots.

Build Quality and Functionality

The build quality of this lens is decent, with a matte black vibe. However, there is a significant amount of plastic used to keep the weight and cost down. The zoom ring is a bit stiff, but the manual focus ring is quite a pleasure to work with.

Compared to the 24-70 F 2.8 G master lens, the Tamron 28-75 is super small, super light, and costs only a fraction of the price.
