Event Announcement

Sony now has multiple sources confirming that Sony will have an event on August the 29th to announce the a7c2, the a7cr, and the 16 to 35 millimeter F 2.8 gm2. So that’s terrific! We have multiple sources confirming that we will have an event scheduled by Sony for August the 29th. But we don’t have a time at this point. Once we have a time, what I’m going to do is I’m going to schedule a live stream, and that live stream will start one hour before the Sony event, regardless of what time of day that happens. In that live stream, I’m going to have multiple guests on. We’re going to talk about what we would put in the Sony a7c2 and the a7cr if we were the president of Sony Corporation. And then, we’ll cover the announcement live and talk about it afterwards, seeing how close it came to our expectations and how good the a7c2 is over its predecessor and the Sony a7cr, which is beginning to look like a mini Sony A7 R5.

Sony a7c2 Specifications

Let’s take a look at the leaked specifications for the Sony a7c2. It’s going to have the same sensor found in the Sony a74 and the A7 III cameras, which is a 33-megapixel sensor. The image processor will be a BIONZ XR image processor with an AI processing unit, just like the Sony a7r5. It will be capable of shooting 10 frames per second continuous shooting, and its ISO range will be from 100 to 51,200. It will have five stops of in-body image stabilization (IBIS). In terms of video specifications, it’s expected to shoot 10-bit video, but it’s not specified if it will be 4:2:2 or if it will be internal. The leaked specs also mention that it will shoot 4K at various frame rates and have ACINOTONE, but there’s no mention of S-Log capabilities. The EVF will have 2.36 million dots, and it will have a three-inch fully articulating LCD screen.

Sony a7cr Specifications

Now, let’s move on to the Sony a7cr, the camera that has caught most people’s attention. The a7cr is the successor to the a7c, but it seems to be like the Nikon Z8 compared to the Z9. In terms of resolution, it will have a massive 61-megapixel backside-illuminated sensor, the same as the Sony a7r5. It will also have the exact same body as the Sony A7 II. The big highlight here is that it will be capable of shooting 8K video, just like the Sony a7r5.

Price and Card Slots

We don’t have information on the price point of these cameras yet, as that will likely be revealed at the launch event. However, both cameras are confirmed to have a single card slot, unlike the a7r5, which has dual card slots for added backup and redundancy.

Sony 16-35mm F 2.8 GM2 Lens

At the launch event, we’re also expecting the release of the Sony 16-35mm F 2.8 GM2 lens, which will be an exciting addition to Sony’s lens lineup.

Overall, it’s shaping up to be an interesting event, and I’m looking forward to hosting a live stream with guests to discuss and analyze the announcements. Stay tuned for more details on the event time and join us for the live coverage. Don’t forget to use the provided pre-order links for easy access to purchase options once the cameras are officially released.
