Question: Have you ever felt like you don’t quite fit in with the crowd?
Solution: Embrace your uniqueness and celebrate being different!
Intro: In a world that often promotes conformity, it is essential to remember that it is perfectly okay to be different. Each of us possesses qualities and characteristics that set us apart from the rest, making us truly unique individuals. While societal norms may pressure us to conform, it is in embracing our differences that we find our true selves and experience personal growth. So, why not celebrate what makes you stand out? In this blog, we will explore the beauty and power of embracing individuality and why it’s essential to embrace and accept ourselves just as we are.
It’s OK to be DIFFERENT
What’s up everyone! Vu of envo films here, and I am back with another video for you to watch. Today’s topic may be a little bit off-brand for me, as it doesn’t directly relate to my usual content of videography, filmmaking, and photography with handheld mirrorless cameras. But the theme of this video is that it is okay to be different.
The Fear of Being Different
I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on why there is such a fear of being different and why people always try to be the same. It seems like everyone likes to flock into a crowd and do what is trendy and popular. We see this all the time on social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, where certain types of videos or challenges go viral, and everyone tries to replicate them.
Even in the world of YouTube content creation, all it takes is one or two popular YouTubers in a certain niche to create a trend, and suddenly everyone’s videos start looking the same. We also see it in wedding films, where videographers try to replicate the styles of high-end or popular wedding videographers, only to be criticized for not being unique. There seems to be a tendency for people to prefer conformity over individuality.
Embrace Your Uniqueness
I believe that it’s important to embrace our differences and not be afraid to be unique. Whether it’s in life in general, videography, making YouTube videos, or even how we dress and think, being different allows us to stand out and create something new and authentic.
In the world of filmmaking and video content creation, many creators fall into the trap of trying to imitate the styles and techniques of others. They follow the same formula, use the same b-rolls, and discuss products in the same way. But by doing so, they miss the opportunity to create something truly innovative and unique.
Be True to Yourself
It’s human nature to dislike the feeling of being different or left out, so we often find comfort in blending in. But by conforming to the masses, we lose the chance to express our true selves. Just as in the world of Hollywood, where DC attempted to copy Marvel’s success instead of embracing their own strengths, we should focus on what makes us stand out and lean into that uniqueness.
This also applies to life in general. As a kid growing up, I often felt different, being one of the few Asian kids in my classroom. But I’ve come to realize that being different is not a bad thing. It allows us to have our own perspectives and experiences.
Embracing Differences in Choices
I’ve always been the type of person who likes to go against the grain. When everyone is doing one thing, I tend to do the opposite. I choose alternative coffee shops over Starbucks, Android phones over Apple phones, and even went for Sony cameras when Canon was the popular choice. Even when buying my pickup truck, I opted for something different than the Toyota Tacoma that everyone else wanted.
The point is, being different is what sets us apart and allows us to create our own unique paths. So let’s embrace our differences and not be afraid to stand out in a world that often tries to make us conform. Remember, it’s okay to be different.
