With so many options on the market, it can be overwhelming to make a decision on which camera to invest in. In this blog post, we will dive into why I’ve decided not to buy the FUJI X100VI and explore alternative options that might better suit your needs. From discussing the features of the camera to comparing it with other models, we will help you make an informed decision about your next camera purchase. Let’s jump in!

Why I’m NOT Buying the FUJI X100VI

This video is sponsored by Squarespace. I don’t know if you’ve seen the actual bomb that’s gone off on the internet that I like to call the x16 but shit’s getting crazy on the internet. People cannot stop talking about this camera and I remember with the X100 V, it was the same thing. The X100 6 is actually holding a new record for the most pre-orders of a camera ever. If you were not living under a rock last year, you probably remember the absolute mania that was trying to get your hands on an X100 V because pre-orders were super backed up. Fuji did not know what was going to hit them, I didn’t know what was coming, you didn’t know what was coming, the price on Marketplace for these cameras absolutely skyrocketed. I looked for an X100 V in a different province that I knew I was going to and I found one there that was slightly cheaper, but it was still, make no mistake, several hundred more than what they cost retail and that’s just silly. And the even funnier part is that now the X16 has come out, everyone and their mother, weird uncle, nephew, guy who works at the gas station you always go to, and barista at the coffee shop you always go to, is posting their X100 V on Facebook Marketplace. And you know what infuriates me? Now the pricing seems kind of fair. Now it’s just priced like regular, so I’ve lost money on buying this, which happens with cameras but it was bananas to get it. If you remember the video I made about getting this, I said a long time ago I just don’t really understand why I would choose the X100 V for me, and I ate my words. I have loved this camera for the last year, this is not like a one year of using the X100 V but I do love this. I am keeping it, Fuji A1 job, I’m pleased.

Reasons I’m Passing on the X100VI

By the title of this video, I’m not here to bash the X16, okay? I love the camera. Do I have the camera? No. Would I love the camera? Sure, if I could get my hands on one. But, there are reasons I’m going to get into for which I will not be purchasing this camera.

New Features of the X100VI

Let’s just be clear, this is a very dope camera, both the X100V and X16, both fantastic cameras. I’m very excited about the X16 like everyone. There are some reasons I’m having trouble justifying the upgrade, and that’s what I’m going to get into in this video. This isn’t a review, but just as a refresher, I’m going to go through some of the big new specs here.

The X100V has 26 megapixels, X100 6 has 40 megapixels. That is a considerable increase in megapixels, and that is great for cropping and using the teleconverter setting.

The X100VI now has In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), which can be useful for shooting video and getting stable shots, especially at lower shutter speeds or while in motion.

Subject Detection Modes

The X100VI has different subject detection modes, including animals, automobiles, planes, and trains, in addition to people and eyes. This can be helpful for capturing various subjects with ease.

Video Capabilities

For video, the X100VI can shoot 4K up to 30 frames per second and 4K 60 with a slight crop. It also offers 6.2k at 30 frames per second and up to 240 frames per second at full HD, as well as 4:2:2 10-bit color for improved color grading.

Despite these impressive upgrades, I’m still not convinced that the X100VI is the right choice for me. While it offers some excellent features, such as increased megapixels and IBIS, I find that my current X100V meets my needs and preferences adequately. Additionally, the pricing and availability of the X100VI may not justify the upgrade for me at this time. Overall, the X100VI is undoubtedly a remarkable camera, but for now, I will not be making the switch.
