How to IMPROVE Your Phone Photography – iPhone 12 Pro Max + Pixel 5

Hey everyone, in this video I’m sharing with you my composition tips for taking better photos on your phone. Let’s get into it!

No Depth of Field

The first and most important tip when taking mobile phone photos is that there is usually no depth of field in the photos you’re taking. To make your subject stand out from the background, you’ll want to place them against something plain or plain colored to help them pop in your photo.

For example, standing Phoebe against a concrete wall can make her stand out in the photo. Placing her against a plain part of the background while still incorporating some texture can create an interesting image.

Straight Lines

When shooting in locations with a lot of lines, such as in the city, keeping your lines straight is key. When shooting with straight lines, make sure to keep them as straight as possible to create a refined and pleasing image.

Choosing the Right Lens

Even on phones like the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Google Pixel 5, you have the choice between different lenses. Whether you choose the wide-angle, normal camera, or portrait lens can make a big difference in the look of your photos.

Experimenting with different lenses can help you create different styles and looks in your photography. The wide-angle lens, for example, can create funky and exaggerated results in full-body shots.

Rule of Thirds

One simple yet important tip to keep in mind when taking photos is the rule of thirds. By using the grid overlay feature on your phone, you can easily frame your pictures according to the rule of thirds, creating more visually appealing compositions.

Remembering to place your subject at the intersections of the grid can help create more balanced and interesting photos.

By following these tips and experimenting with different techniques on your iPhone 12 Pro Max and Google Pixel 5, you can improve your phone photography and capture stunning images.
