How to EDIT your photos BETTER!

Hello everybody, this week I’ve been very busy doing lots of things and the weather’s been rubbish. So what I thought I’d do is share a quick five editing tips, hopefully in about five minutes. Although if you watch this channel for a while, you’ll know that’s probably unlikely, I’ll give it a go.

Tip #1: Assess Your Photos Before Editing

Assess your photos before you start editing them. This may sound obvious, but it’s important to take the time to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your photos before diving into the editing process. This will not only improve your edit but also benefit your photography as a whole.

Tip #2: Not Being Afraid to Crop

Cropping is your friend, especially when capturing landscape or outdoor photos where the subject may appear relatively small in the frame. Don’t be afraid to crop your photos to enhance the focus on the subject, even if you have a high-resolution camera.

Tip #3: Take Breaks During Editing

Take breaks in between your edits. Time away from the screen resets your eyes and allows you to come back to your edit with a fresh perspective. It’s a very important step in the process, regardless of your experience level.

Tip #4: Less is More

When it comes to photo editing, subtlety is king. It’s better to underuse a tool by 80% than to overuse it by 1%. Always aim for a subtle and natural look in your edits to avoid overediting.
