Comparison of Sennheiser XSW and RODE Wireless GO

The Innovation Factor

The Sennheiser XSW was poised to be the innovative price-performance breakthrough in wireless systems, not just for mics, but also for video, voice, musical instruments, and live performance. However, RODE stole the spotlight with their Wireless GO, offering an even less expensive, smaller, lighter, and arguably superior operationally wireless system specifically tailored for video creators.

The Dirty Little Secret

During testing, it became apparent that both the XSW and the Wireless GO achieved their price points by compromising on interference and distance performance. The question then becomes – does this compromise matter to you? For many, the answer might be no. Therefore, it comes down to a different compromise made by each company that distinguishes the labs for the type of work you do.

Personal Experience

As a filmmaker and YouTuber, audio became the bane of my video existence. I initially used the Sennheiser EW 100 g2 system, which was reliable and fully-featured. However, interference issues prompted me to search for a simpler solution, leading me to RODE’s Wireless GO. The automatic frequency-hopping technology and ease of use made it my go-to system for various projects, relegating the Sennheiser system to the drawer.

Subsequently, I tried Sony’s UWPD 11 and Sennheiser’s g4 system, but it was Sennheiser’s AVX system that truly impressed me. With superior build quality, sound, and features like auto gain control and rotatable receivers, the AVX became my favorite system due to its flawless operation and quick setup.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, the RODE Wireless GO and Sennheiser XSW both offer innovative solutions at affordable price points. While they may compromise on interference and distance performance, the choice between them ultimately comes down to the specific needs of your work. For me, the Sennheiser AVX remains the top choice due to its reliability and superior features, making it my go-to system for all my projects.

When it comes to wireless labs, finding the right balance between performance and price is crucial. Both Sennheiser and RODE have made significant strides in this area, providing creators with options that suit their diverse needs. Whether you prioritize innovation, ease of use, or reliability, there is a wireless lab out there that can elevate your audio game.

Thank you for joining me on this comparison journey. Stay tuned for more reviews and insights on cutting-edge tech and gear. Until next time, keep creating and exploring!
