GoPro Hero 12 vs DJI Action 4 – Don’t Waste YOUR MONEY

So I went out and got the GoPro Hero 12 and I’m going to be putting it up against the action for, and I want you guys in the comments below to let me know what you think of these two cameras. So, I’m going to be putting this into five different categories. I’m going to be going for image quality, reliability, ease of use, Pro features, and then the last one happens to be just the overall experience with these two cameras. So, let’s get into the video.

Image Quality

One of the things that I was super excited for with the GoPro Hero 12 is that everyone was saying it was going to have a one-inch sensor, but when it didn’t come with a one-inch sensor, it was a bit of a downer. The GoPro Hero 12 actually has the same sensor as the Hero 11. On the other hand, the DJI Action 4 has a larger sensor, with a 1 over 1.3 inch sensor compared to the GoPro’s 1 over 1.9 inch sensor. This means that the Action 4 can perform better in low light situations due to its larger sensor and better pixel pitch. The ISO range between these two cameras is 100 to 3200, with both cameras performing pretty decently in their own respective columns.

Both cameras offer 4K video, with the Action 4 having a low-light setting that produces better colors. The Action 4 also has a color temp sensor on the front, which gives you more true-to-life colors in everyday filming and low-light situations. The Action 4 holds slightly better colors in the sky and grass, but it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Both cameras offer native 10-bit internal color, which is great for color grading and squeezing out extra colors in the footage.

When it comes to reliability, GoPro has had a history of overheating issues, and unfortunately, the Hero 12 is no exception. The Action 4, on the other hand, does not overheat as quickly. In terms of audio, external recording or using a shotgun microphone will yield better results than relying on the in-camera audio of both cameras.

Ease of Use

Both cameras are relatively easy to use, with user-friendly interfaces and intuitive controls.

Pro Features

Both cameras offer a range of pro features, including high-resolution video, adjustable colors, and the ability to shoot in log or 10-bit. The GoPro Hero 12 has a higher frame rate at 5.3K, while the Action 4 maxes out at 4K but offers higher resolution options. The difference between these resolutions may not be noticeable unless viewed on large screens.

Overall Experience

In terms of the overall experience, it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Both cameras have their strengths and weaknesses, and what may work for one person may not work for another. It’s important to consider your specific needs and requirements when choosing between the GoPro Hero 12 and DJI Action 4.

At the end of the day, it’s crucial to do your research and carefully consider your options before making a purchase. Both cameras have their pros and cons, and what may be a dealbreaker for someone else may not be a factor for you. So, don’t waste your money – make an informed decision and choose the camera that best suits your needs and preferences.
