FUJIFILM X100V – A Portrait Shoot
Hey guys, what’s going on? It’s Mitch here. Today, he will be doing a shoot with Amanda in this beautiful pine forest behind him. He will be shooting today on the FUJIFILM X100V, which he is really excited about. He wants to say a massive thank you to Did You Direct in Brisbane, who actually loaned him this camera for the shoot. He is really excited to try this camera out. It has been a while since he shot with a Fuji camera, so let’s get into it.
Testing the camera
He starts shooting with the camera set at shutter speed 160 at f/2, which is wide open on the lens, and ISO 250. He decides to test out the new film simulation, switching it to Classic Negative. He takes a couple of shots before changing it back quickly to Pro VR, which is the standard style.
Reviewing the shots
Upon reviewing the shots, Mitch expresses his preference for the Pro VR or Classic Chrome film simulation, as he wasn’t the biggest fan of the new Classic Negative. He mentions that he was recording both JPEG and RAW files to the SD card simultaneously and noticed that the camera was a little slow to store the images after each shot. Despite using a fast SD card, the camera felt quite slow in this aspect.
Mitch also notes that the camera has great dynamic range, on par with what he’s used to getting out of the XT3. He was able to edit the RAW files to create polished looking images. Overall, he believes that the X100V is great for straight out of camera JPEG quality, making it more of a fun hobbyist point-and-shoot camera with a large sensor and a fast lens. It is compact, lightweight, and certainly looks beautiful.
