Hi folks! We are excited to share with you the very first image of the new Sony 300 millimeter 2.8 GM lens, which is expected to be announced within the next four to six months. The development announcement happened in Spring, and now we finally have a leaked image to get a glimpse of this highly anticipated lens!

A Clear Look at the Lens
A reader recently sent us a low-resolution image of what appears to be the new Sony 300 millimeter 2.8 GM lens. Although the image quality is not the best, there are certain elements that make it clear that this is indeed a new lens and not the 400 millimeter GM or the 600 millimeter GM.
One notable difference is that this lens is a prime lens, as there is no zoom ring visible. Additionally, upon closer inspection, we can see that the buttons and contours are located in front of the tripod mounting point. In comparison, the 400 and 600 millimeter GM lenses have these elements on the back.
To give you a better understanding, we have included some image comparisons below. You can clearly see the distinct differences between the 300 millimeter 2.8 lens and the 400 millimeter GM lens, as well as the comparison between the 300 and 600 millimeter GM lenses.
Pricing and Release Information
As of now, we do not have any official pricing information for the new Sony 300 millimeter 2.8 GM lens. However, based on our estimations, we anticipate it to be priced around $7,000 to $8,000. We expect the lens to be released sometime between November of this year and January of 2024.
We believe that the lens will be announced alongside the next stacked full-frame sensor camera, which we have received some information about. We will share more details about the camera after the Sony a7c2 and a7cr announcement on August 29.
