What’s going on guys? I just moved, so I’ve set up a brand new desk. Today, I’m going to be giving you a tour of my brand new video editing workstation. Since I’ll be spending hours in this position editing videos, my main goal was to set up a comfortable and welcoming space where I can focus and be productive. Docked MacBook Pro Setup
The first thing you’ll notice is that this is actually a docked MacBook Pro setup. I prefer this setup because I work on the go a lot. Whether I’m editing at a coffee shop or traveling, it’s convenient for me to be able to bring my MacBook with me and seamlessly continue working on the same projects. The space is clean and simple, free from distractions, and everything I need is within arm’s reach. I’ve even added an extra rug under my chair for added comfort.
LED Strip Lighting
You’ve probably seen this before, but I have an LED strip stuck to the backside of the table, which reflects off the wall. This is controlled by a remote attached to the wall. It adds a nice touch to the setup and creates a pleasant atmosphere.
Gear and Accessories
Now, let’s dive into the gear and accessories on my desk:
- Samsung T3 SSD Drive: This portable and compact SSD drive is perfect for editing on the go. I keep it in a mini case from Case Logic to ensure its safety.
- Steckler X: This foldable stand raises my MacBook off the surface, providing an ergonomic typing position and dissipating heat.
- Raine Design M Tower: This docking station matches the color and texture of my MacBook Pro case. It also has a hole cut out in the bottom for better airflow and prevents overheating. I’ve attached a powered USB hub from Belkin for additional ports.
- Logitech MX Master: This wireless mouse has customizable buttons and a responsive trackpad. It connects seamlessly and has a long-lasting battery life.
- Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones: These reference headphones provide a clear and unbiased signal, ideal for video editing. They are durable, adjustable, and foldable for easy travel.
- M-Audio M-Track: This audio interface, with its sleek design, provides excellent sound quality. It has a headphone input, volume control, and balanced outputs for studio monitors.
- Pioneer DJ 50X Studio Monitors: These studio monitors replace my previous ones for better audio quality.
