City Street POV Photography – Sony A6400 (Sigma 56mm F1.4)

We’re going to be heading out today with the Sony a6400 and comboing it with the Sigma 56mm F1.4, which is possibly my new favorite lens for APS-C cameras. This lens is equivalent to an 85mm lens for crop-sensor cameras, and as someone who loves shooting with an 85mm lens, I’m excited to see what this combo can deliver. All the photographs you’re going to see in today’s video have been edited with my presets, which you can check out in the link in the description below. Let’s get onto the street and see what we can create.

Starting the Journey

This is where we’re starting today’s POV with the 56mm lens. I’m using a center focus point for the first shot, capturing a tram and using a metal line as a leading line. Moving further down, I wait for people to move and capture the bustling scenes in Chinatown, using various elements such as cars and signs as compositional aids.

Testing Out the Lens

As I navigate through Chinatown, I capture detailed shots of signs and people, using the lens to its full capability. The wider angle of this lens allows me to capture a unique angle and composition, producing some really interesting shots. Waiting for subjects to walk into the frame yields some spontaneous and authentic portraits, showcasing the lens’s ability to capture candid moments.

Utilizing Foreground Elements

Using the trees as a foreground element, I experiment with different angles and compositions, testing the versatility of the lens. I also capture shots of people in various activities, from looking at maps to running, and the lens performs exceptionally well in delivering sharp and detailed images.

Adapting to Different Situations

Even in challenging lighting situations, the lens continues to deliver stunning images, and I experiment with both portrait and landscape orientations to capture a variety of scenes. As I continue to explore the city streets, I find new and interesting subjects to photograph, showcasing the lens’s adaptability in different settings.
