Cheap Stuff Beginner Photographers Need

Hello everybody, I’ve just got back from holiday with Emily, and it was very nice. Despite taking care of the baby, we had a great time. I wanted to quickly run through some of the indispensable items for beginner photographers that I have found to be very useful. I hope this list is helpful to you as well. Let’s dive in!

Seat Pad

If you’re an outdoors photographer, a landscape photographer, or just someone who spends time at beaches and on mountains with their camera, then a seat pad is definitely indispensable. It allows you to sit down comfortably without getting a wet backside. This is the first thing I pack in my camera bag, after my cameras and lenses. This small investment can make a big difference in your comfort and productivity while taking photos outdoors.

Blower Sensor

A blower sensor has become even more important to me since I started shooting with Sony cameras. These cameras tend to attract dust easily, and having a blower sensor handy helps me keep the sensor clean. It’s a simple, yet crucial tool for any photographer with an interchangeable lens camera.

Lens Cloths

Using a t-shirt to clean lenses is not ideal, as it can transfer dirt onto the lens. I now use microfiber cloths which are very effective in cleaning lenses and mopping up moisture. These cloths are affordable and a much better option than using t-shirts or the free ones that come with photography products.

Batteries and Power Banks

Aside from camera batteries, a power bank can be a great addition to your photography gear. Third-party batteries can be a more affordable option, but it’s important to read reviews and choose reliable ones. Additionally, carrying a power bank allows you to charge your camera on the go, as well as other devices, such as your phone or GoPro.

Cloud Storage

Using cloud storage for backing up and storing your portfolio is an essential practice for photographers. It provides a secure and convenient way to ensure that your work is safe and accessible from anywhere. Utilizing multiple cloud storage services, such as Google, Adobe, Apple, and Amazon, can offer redundancy and added security for your valuable images.

These are just a few items that I have found to be indispensable in my photography journey. Each of these tools serves a specific purpose in ensuring that I can capture great images while staying comfortable and organized. I hope this list proves helpful to you as well. As always, happy shooting!
