What’s going on guys, it’s Jason Morris here! Yes, we are here in Tasmania, specifically in beautiful Hobart with the Tasman bridge right behind me. Today, I am here to give you guys a review of the Hohem iSteady Pro 2, the best budget GoPro gimbal on the market. I’ve had the opportunity to test it out for a few weeks now and I must say, it is incredible. This gimbal is not only super fast and responsive, but it’s also splash-proof, making it perfect for any adventure.

Testing with the DJI Osmo Action

While I do have my GoPro Hero 4 mounted on this gimbal, which lacks image stabilization, I was really interested in testing it with the DJI Osmo Action and its HDR mode. The Rocksteady feature doesn’t work in HDR mode with the Osmo Action, so I wanted to see how the iSteady Pro 2 performs. Currently, I am recording at 2.7K with my GoPro Hero 4, and despite it being an older model, the footage is incredibly steady. The sport mode allows you to hold the trigger down to get fast and responsive movement, while still maintaining stability.

One of the great features of the iSteady Pro 2 is the ability to control pan, tilt, and roll. With a simple double tap on the trigger, you can easily reset the gimbal if you happen to lose your positioning. Additionally, there is a screw mount on the side, which allows for attachments like a phone mount. By downloading the iSteady app on your phone and syncing it with the gimbal and your GoPro or Osmo Action, you can access a range of different functions through your phone.

Different Modes for Different Shots

On the mode dial of the iSteady Pro 2, you can find four different functions. A single tap enables regular function mode, while a double tap activates the next mode, indicated by the LED signal flashing twice. Similarly, a triple tap activates the mode indicated by the LED signal flashing three times. The fantastic full follow mode is activated with one, two, three, four taps successively, allowing the gimbal to follow every action you make, ensuring smooth and stable footage.

Running Test with GoPro Hero 4

Now let’s put the gimbal to the test. I have turned it around in selfie mode and I’m currently recording with my GoPro Hero 4. As I run, you can see how stable the footage remains. The hand-trigger control allows for quick and responsive movement, while the double tap on the front of the gimbal instantly brings it back to the front-facing position. This feature is fantastic for on-the-go recording and capturing fast-action shots with ease.

Enhancing Dynamic Range with the Osmo Action

Moving on to the Osmo Action, which offers a higher dynamic range with its HDR mode, the iSteady Pro 2 allows you to capture even more dynamic range with its stabilizing capabilities. This becomes evident as I record stunning scenery in Hobart. From snowy Cradle Mountain to the delicious food that we’ve been enjoying on our holiday, this gimbal has proven to be an essential tool for capturing smooth and stabilized footage.

That concludes my review of the Hohem iSteady Pro 2. If you’re in need of a budget-friendly GoPro gimbal, make sure to check out this incredible device. The link to purchase it can be found in the description below. Thank you for watching, and I’ll see you in the next video!
