In this article, we will show you how you too can take this amazing little camera and turn it into a cinema beast.

Before we get into the details, a quick disclaimer: Sony sent out the a7c2 for this video but they are not sponsoring this article. This video is supported by those who have purchased our camera guides and gear. Thank you for your support!

The Pa7c2p Cinema Camera Build

Here’s what’s included in the pa7c2p cinema camera build: the a7c2 at the center with a display off to one side, top and bottom metal plates housing cables, built-in fan, and mounting points for accessories, 3D printed side panel with padding for the screen, and a mini v-mount battery plate for extended run time and power options.

Exterior and Ergonomics

The build is strong and feels amazing in the hands, making it easy to rig up with various mounting plates for accessories. The 3D printed side panel allows for the screen to be used as normal or closed during transit.

Power and Cooling

The addition of a mini v-mount battery plate and built-in fan ensures longer run times and cool operation, making the camera suitable for various shooting environments.

The Sony A7C2

The Sony a7c2 takes the guts of the Sony a7IV but puts it into the original a7c body style. It retains all the features of the a7IV and adds Lut support, a more videos and centric display and menu, and in-camera time-lapse video creation. It is smaller and lighter, making it suitable for unique builds like the cinema camera.

Features and Performance

The a7c2 retains all the features that made the a7IV great, at a lower price point, and adds new features like Lut support and improved autofocus capabilities. It is suitable for professional video production.

Cinema Camera Build Parts List

To build a pa7c2 cinema camera, you will need an a7c2 or a7cr, small rigs 1681 cheese plates, canevate camera base plates, nitzi mini v-mount plate, 3/8 to 1/4 adapters, Sony fz100 dummy battery, short angle DC cable, and the cinebak a7c2 kit. You will also need a cage for the a7c2.

Building the Cinema Camera

Start by installing the a7c2 into the small rig cage and then work on the metal frame that holds the camera and other parts in place. Assemble the top and bottom sections, and then slide the camera cage in between the top and bottom plates.

The Sony a7c2 lightroom early issues

The Sony A7C II initially faced issues with Adobe Lightroom’s support for its RAW files, with users reporting difficulties opening the photos in Lightroom on MacOS and iOS. However, as of the October 2023 update, Adobe has added support for the Sony A7C II RAW (.ARW) files, following the release of Camera Raw 16.0, which includes support for the A7C II and A7R. Therefore, users should ensure they have the latest Lightroom and Camera Raw updates to access full RAW support for the A7C II
